A concept unique across Germany enables students, in parallel with the First State Examination in Law, to obtain two additional qualifications: the LL.B. in Law and Economics, already aligned with the law degree, and the new LL.M. in Business Law. What makes this special is that the master’s programme is largely integrated into the regular law curriculum. Students benefit from an efficient study pathway and strategically expand their expertise in business law without detours or additional study time.

Prof. Dr. Jana Hönke, Chair for Sociology in Africa at the University of Bayreuth, has been appointed to the board of the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF). PD Dr. Julia Eichenberg (Institute for Franconian Regional History, Thurnau) will represent the University of Bayreuth on the steering committee of the Bavarian Science Alliance for Peace, Conflict, and Security Research (FoKS). These appointments increase the visibility and influence of the University of Bayreuth, following its recent launch of the Conflict, Crisis, and Change (C³) Research Center, in German peace and conflict studies.

Short-video platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts are part of everyday life for many young people. But what effects does the endless scrolling of short, algorithmically personalised content have on attention, memory and well-being? Researchers at the University of Bayreuth have now published an article in the journal European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry that for the first time provides a comprehensive answer to this question. The results show that intensive and unstructured use of short-video platforms is associated with a range of negative effects.
